Welcome Back to the Fake Show

You're reading the second test post in the series, which means the first one worked well enough that somebody asked for more. Congratulations to the formatting.

My First Million is a real podcast about business ideas and trends. This post is not that podcast. Think of it as a cardboard cutout of the real thing, useful for checking that the furniture fits.

Three Trends We Just Made Up

We scanned the horizon for opportunities and found these. We did not scan the horizon. We looked out the window.

  1. Rent-a-Neighbor. Borrow a friendly person for an hour to wave at when you leave the house. Great for looking busy.
  2. Artisanal Silence. Hand-crafted quiet, delivered to your door in a small wooden box. The box is empty. That's the product.
  3. Pre-Owned Meetings. A marketplace to resell meetings that could have been emails. Gently used, lightly agenda'd.

The Five-Minute Validation Checklist

Before building anything, run it through this highly unscientific process:

  • Say it out loud to a pet and watch for judgment
  • Search the name and celebrate if the domain is $12
  • Text three friends and count the thumbs-up emoji
  • Sleep on it and see if you still like it at 7 a.m.

A few extra notes, for testing nested lists:

  • Naming advice
    • Short is good
    • Weird is fine
    • Avoid anything that sounds like a medication
  • Launch advice
    • Post it somewhere
    • Refresh the page twelve times
    • Pretend you're not refreshing the page

Another Quote, For Styling Purposes

"If you can read this, the block quote styles are working. If you can't, please contact your developer."

Below is some bold text, some italic text, a link that goes nowhere useful, and a bit of inline code, in case any of those need checking.

What To Check

If you're the developer reviewing this page, here's the short list:

  • ✅ Headings render at the right sizes
  • ✅ Ordered and unordered lists render
  • ✅ Nested bullets are indented
  • ✅ Block quotes have their own style
  • ✅ Images scale down on mobile
  • ⬜ Someone remembers to delete this post, too

Sign-Off

That's it for test post number two. You've now read about 350 words of content with no real information in it, which puts you ahead of at least some newsletters.

For the real ideas, listen to the actual podcast. This page is the stunt double.

Thanks for reading. Please go delete this post. 🗑️
